The Nissan Murano has been totally updated for the 2015 model year, and Autobytel got a sneak peek at this crossover at the 2014 New York Auto Show. This year marks the third generation of the Murano, and Nissan’s Senior Product Manager, Scott Pak, was eager to go over the highlights of the redesigned Murano. The exterior of the car is completely new, and offers a significant visual change from the previous version. By sharing some of the styling cues that are differentiating new and upcoming Nissan models, the bold and aggressive new face of the Murano brings a new attitude to the crossover segment, while retaining its ties to the rest of the brand’s family of models. Nissan’s new signature “boomerang” head lights, fitted with LED daytime running lights, flanking the updated grille, are one of the most obvious updates, and the distinctive shape guides the rest of the exterior’s design. Standard LED turn signals in the mirror and LED taillamps add an upscale touch. Integrated roof rails add functionality and help improve aerodynamics. Other aerodynamic upgrades add up to a 20% improvement in fuel economy over the outgoing model. Nissan has also updated the infotainment system’s features and interface, the better to be enjoyed from the comfort of Nissan’s exclusive NASA-inspired zero gravity seats.
