Mitsubishi Concept XR-PHEV Evolution Vision Gran Turismo Debuts

Mitsubishi is the latest automaker to take part in Gran Turismo's Vision initiative which invites automakers to build a virtual or, if they choose, real life concepts for Gran Turismo 6. The Japanese automaker decided to take one of their concepts and have a bit of fun with it. Meet the Concept XR-PHEV Evolution Vision.

Besides having one of the longest names in the initiative, the Concept XR-PHEV Evolution Vision is a more aggressive version of the Concept XR-PHEV shown at the Tokyo Motor Show last year. Flared out fenders, larger vents, twenty-inch wheels, and a large rear wing are the highlights of the design. The body itself is made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic to help lighten the vehicle and improve handling. Power comes from a plug-in hybrid system connected to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. All of the power is routed to all four wheels via Mitsubishi's Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) system.
