This year marks the 30th anniversary of the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan. The doors will open to the public on January 20th, and thousands of people will converge to see some the latest and the greatest cars, trucks, and SUVs on the market today. As usual, plenty of new vehicles will be unveiled at the Detroit show, too. Skip the cold and take a look at our Detroit Auto Show Sneak Peek Preview from the comfort of your couch, desk or phone. We've got teasers of some of the vehicles that will be unveiled in Detroit, along with hot new cars that will be shown for the first time on the Cobo floor.
The Acura RDX is the Japanese luxury brand’s midsize SUV. The last time it was updated was 2013, so this two row, five-seater should be primed for taking on other luxury suvs right out of the gate. Acura isn’t saying much about the RDX before its big reveal on January 15th, but they have said that it’s the “most extensive Acura redesign in more than a decade.” Check back with us in our coverage of the Detroit Auto Show to get the full details on the new design and pricing.

We saw the concept idea just one year ago, but now the X2 is ready to join the BMW crossover lineup. A bit on the smaller side, this is the sporty, sexy version of the X1 compact crossover. Low-slung and more in line with the X4 and X6 “coupe” crossover models, it isn’t your average SUV. This vehicle has a penchant for design and performance over cargo hauling and people moving.

Already shown this past December at the Chevy Trucks Centennial in Texas, the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado will now get its official reveal at the Detroit Auto Show. The photos show a much more modern truck, with lots of design language similarities shared with its smaller sibling, the Chevrolet Colorado.
The new Silverado should be a crowd pleaser, as General Motors officially states the latest version reflects "feedback from more than 7,000 people on what they wanted in their next truck.” General Motors says that this is the most extensive customer research done in the company’s history.

Remember the Honda Insight? Although the hybrid vehicle shared a similar teardrop design with the Toyota Prius, unfortunately, it didn’t share its exceptional fuel economy or spacious interior and it was discontinued after the 2014 model year. Honda will show a prototype of a new, improved Insight at the Detroit Auto Show and we’ll be looking forward to hearing about how it’s become a more worthy competitor in the hybrid segment.

The Hyundai Veloster, which debuted in 2012, has been due for a reboot and will now be updated for 2019. In addition to standard versions of the quirky 3-door hot hatch, a new Veloster N will be available, which should harness even more horses under the hood. Watch our upcoming coverage of the Detroit Auto Show to get the official specs.

Infiniti often shows gorgeous concept vehicles at auto shows, and this year’s Q Inspiration concept shown in Detroit will be no exception. The Q Inspiration is a flagship sedan concept that the automaker calls an “alternative form.” It features a shorter hood and an elongated body, which lends itself to two essential luxury features — comfort and space. It’s more than just designer-speak, Infiniti says this new design language is where the brand is headed when it comes to future sedans in the lineup.

Unveiled just a few weeks ago, the all-new 2019 Lamborghini Urus made its world debut in Europe. The first ever “Super SUV” from the brand still focuses on power and performance and is said to be the fastest SUV in the world. The Urus will likely gather polarizing reactions in Detroit; some are thrilled by the actualization of a Lamborghini in SUV form, and some are horrified by it. However, Lamborghini is betting on the Urus quickly becoming the brand’s bestseller. Stay tuned in our coverage for pricing and powertrain specs.

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class will be unveiled this weekend in Detroit and even though it will likely look the same, there are huge concessions to on-road ride quality and comfort. This iconic SUV has maintained its rugged military style look for decades, but now, Mercedes-Benz says the infamous “G-Wagen” will become a little less crude and a lot more refined for 2019.

Another sedan that’s been ripe for a redux is the Toyota Avalon. We’ll get to see the new 2019 model debut in Detroit, and with Toyota’s bolder styling cues as of late, we anticipate a major design makeover. Toyota is keeping mum on the details until its unveil, but they’re teasing the new large 5 passenger sedan as “Style and Dynamism, Actualized.” We’ll just have to wait and see if the new Avalon lives up to the hype!

As VW’s bestseller, the new 2019 Jetta is a big deal. Aside from these design sketches showing a sportier, sleeker and sexier sedan, we know that the Jetta’s platform is completely new. Even though Volkwagen’s latest SUV additions have added to their bottom line, the Jetta remains the bread and butter of the brand. We anticipate big changes for this small sedan. Be sure to keep up with our coverage of the Detroit Auto Show to get all the details after it’s been revealed.
