Mississippi Becomes Global HQ for Murano Manufacturing
2015 nissan murano
The all-new 2015 Nissan Murano crossover—the bigger, more premium sibling to the Nissan Rogue—has begun production at Nissan's Canton Vehicle Assembly Plant in Mississippi.
It marks the first time that the Murano has been built in this country, and that's just for starters: The Canton complex also will become the automaker's production hub for international sales of the 2015 Nissan Murano, which will be exported from Mississippi to markets across the globe.
Commented Christina Doss, a Nissan manufacturing technician working on the Murano's launch team: "Since I started with Nissan 11 years ago I've watched this plant grow, and I've had the opportunity to work on some of Nissan's most popular vehicles. It's amazing to see how far we've come, and now that we're producing the Murano here, I get to tell friends and family that I work on vehicles that are shipped around the world."
Added John Martin, Nissan's senior vice president for Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management and Purchasing: "The strategic investments that Nissan has made in Canton serve as a testament to the flexibility, efficiency and talent of our workforce and suppliers. In Canton, we build high-quality vehicles that compete and win globally, and the bold new Murano will build on that reputation."
For U.S. customers, the 2015 Nissan Murano is expected to go on sale before the end of the year offering a full slate of next-gen enhancements, highlighted by many of today's most sought-after features. Among them:
The 2015 Nissan Murano will then go beyond the expected with a design drawn directly from the striking Resonance concept vehicle, complete with new signature LED lighting, a "floating" roof and Nissan's "V-motion" front-end appearance.
Pricing for the 2015 Nissan Murano will be revealed closer to its on-sale date.
