The 2015 Nissan Altima is a three-year-old design of a fifth-generation car. That means that Nissan has had plenty of time to figure out exactly what mid-size sedan buyers want, and the latest Altima to hit the roads is pretty fine-tuned to meet expectations. The mid-size sedan market is big and competition is heavy, so Autobytel’s Road Test Editor Chris Wardlaw checked out a 2015 Nissan Altima to see how it stacks up. For a base price of $24,720, the 2015 Altima features a roomy cabin with plenty of cargo space in the trunk, modern electronics and safety equipment, and competitive fuel economy, and it can be fully loaded for just about $28,000. Autobytel’s test car was equipped with Nissan’s 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine paired to an efficient CVT transmission. This drivetrain puts out 182 horsepower and yields fuel economy ratings of 27 MPG city, 38 MPG highway, and 31 MPG combined, although Autobytel’s numbers came up a few MPG short. Altima shoppers can opt for a 3.5-liter V6 engine that also comes with an upgrade from 17-inch to 18-inch wheels. The 2015 Altima is extremely comfortable, and it also has some of the best safety scores in the mid-size sedan segment.
