2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport Test Drive and Video Review

For the 2014 model year, Hyundai made some updates to the popular Santa Fe SUV. The Santa Fe comes in two versions, a mid-size SUV that seats seven, or the smaller Santa Fe Sport that can accommodate five. The Santa Fe Sport, however, is not truly a compact SUV, even though it was designed to compete in that class. Chris Wardlaw, Road Test Editor for Autobytel, test drove a 2014 Santa Fe Sport to see exactly how it fits in to the compact and crossover sport utility class wars. The Santa Fe Sport got its last full update for 2013, and the design cues from that refresh still look stylish and contemporary, especially since Hyundai’s other models are just now catching up in style. Autobytel’s Santa Fe Sport was powered by a 2-liter turbo four-cylinder engine that makes 264 horsepower, paired to a six-speed automatic transmission with a manual shift feature. There is also a base model with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder that makes 190 horsepower. However, springing for the engine upgrade yields plenty of additional equipment and features. 18-inch wheels are standard on this model, but Autobytel’s test car was equipped with the navigation package, which includes an upgrade to 19-inch wheels. The Santa Fe Sport provides plenty of cargo space, which makes it a compelling option when cross-shopping small SUVs.
