Faced with increasingly tough competition in the subcompact segment, the 2015 Hyundai Accent has been fine-tuned for the new model year with some minor styles and packaging adjustments, as well as new pricing.
As a result, when it arrives in dealerships in the very near-term future, the 2015 Hyundai Accent will be offered starting at $14,745—up $100 from the 2014 model—while wearing a fresh, more detailed front grille treatment, set off by restyled headlights and complemented by revised taillights. Additionally, the 2015 Hyundai Accent will be spruced up by new wheel covers, with 16-inch alloy and 14-inch steel design, and then offer both new interior fabric patterns and three additional exterior colors: Vitamin C, Pacific Blue and Misty Beige.
In the cabin, designers also have deployed an easier-to-read LCD audio display for the 2015 Hyundai Accent, which is particularly helpful considering that the brand has put a lot of effort into providing an up-level audio experience even with the entry model. That setup, in case folks have forgotten, provides 172 watts of power, six speakers and a standard USB iPod interface right out of the box. Finally, an exterior temperature display becomes standard for the 2015 Hyundai Accent lineup across all models.
The brand also has developed a new "Popular Equipment Package" to make it easier to add key features to the entry-level 2015 Hyundai Accent. With cruise control, Bluetooth technology for hands-free calling, a sliding armrest storage bin and a tilt/telescoping steering wheel that also integrates audio controls, the bundle adds $600 to the MSRP of the 2015 Hyundai Accent GLS with its six-speed automatic transmission—working out to an overall total of $16,345.
Next, as long as we're on the topic of powertrains, let's note that the 2015 Hyundai Accent's will remain unchanged and continue to showcase a 1.6-liter, four-cylinder engine. That unit leverages gasoline direct injection and dual continuously variable valve timing to produce 138 hp and 123 lb.-ft. of torque, with owners able to choose either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic with "Shiftronic" technology for on-demand gear changes. With that DIY transmission, the 2015 Hyundai Accent achieves EPA marks of 27 mpg city/38 mpg highway/31 mpg combined, although those grades slip 1 mpg in each testing scenario with the automatic.
