The most powerful sports sedan in the world is now a Dodge, thanks to the new 2015 Charger SRT Hellcat, the latest vehicle to come from the Charger lineup. This beast of a sedan puts out more than 700 horsepower and plenty of torque. Truly testing the Hellcat’s limits requires a track, so Autobytel Road Test Editor Benjamin Hunting went to Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia. The 2015 Charger SRT Hellcat is powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that yields 707 horsepower and can propel the Charger from 0-60 in just over 3 seconds. That sprint time is especially impressive because this car is huge and heavy. The powertrain is complemented by an eight-speed automatic transmission, a launch control feature, and a customizable drive mode selector with street, sport and track settings. The Charger Hellcat provides more predictable behavior than its Challenger Hellcat sibling. Dodge made some overhauls to the Charger lineup for the 2015 model year, and some of those updates have trickled over to the Hellcat, making this sedan almost as good inside as it is outside. The material quality has been updated from the most recent version of the Charger, making the cabin look and feel great. The seats are pleasant to the touch, but offer plenty of support and grip, even when the car is being pushed to its limits.
