Chevy will launch new "Rally" editions for the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 this September, actually offering three different levels of specially packaged content for double- and crew-cab models. All three will be immediately recognizable, however, thanks to an appearance upgrade that pairs dual black racing stripes with bold black bowtie logos.
The 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LS complements those style cues with black door handles and mirror caps, as well as a body color grille, and then the upper-level 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT provides two increasingly well-contented upgrades. The "Rally 1" package here includes the same features as for the LT Silverado 1500, with additions like 17-inch black aluminum wheels and a trailering package; that latter setup combines a backup camera, trailer hitch, locking rear differential and rear defroster.
Drivers looking for more luxury also can order the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LS with a "Rally 2" setup, which combine key design enhancements from the "Rally 1" group, as well as the trailering package, with:
Engine-wise, the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 serves up a standard 4.3-liter V6 that makes 285 hp and 305 lb.-ft. of torque, can deliver up to 24 mpg highway, and boasts a 7,200-lb. max tow rating (as certified under the new SAE J2807 Recommend Practices). The alternative powerplant, a 5.3-liter V8, combines outputs of 355 hp and 383 lb.-ft. of torque with EPA grades as high as 23 mpg highway and an SAE-certified max tow rating of 12,000 lbs.
“Silverado won more awards in 2014 than any other pickup, including North American Truck of the Year,” said John Fitzpatrick, Silverado senior marketing manager. “The Rally Edition packages will let customers add an aggressive new look to this great all-around performer.”
