2015 Chevrolet Colorado Comes to Market at $20,995

The all-new 2015 Chevrolet Colorado will be priced from $20,995 when it arrives this fall as the industry's first next-gen midsize pickup, providing a substantial discount of $4,580 as compared to the MSRP of the full-size Chevy Silverado—and here's a little secret: The starter model of the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado—configured with an extended cab and six-foot box—actually is a bit bigger than the least expensive Silverado, which opens at $25,575 with a regular cab and 6.6-foot box. 

Now, it's true that the Silverado is about two feet longer than the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado when controlling for cab configurations, as that entry-level Colorado is about 208 inches long and the similarly cabbed and boxed Silverado is listed at 230 inches.

As a result, and according to Tony Johnson, marketing manager for the Colorado, that size differential should have "strong appeal for people who know they want a truck, but want one that is easier to maneuver in traffic and easier to park at work or at home."

Also appealing will be a very competitive list of standard features, highlighted by a rearview camera system (with dynamic guidelines) and bed bonuses like GM's CornerStep rear bumpers, a locking tailgate, two-tier loading, 13 tie-down locations, and bed-rail and tailgate protectors. Providing the power for the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado will be a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that's mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and serves up 200 hp and 191 lb.-ft. of torque (with EPA numbers still TBD at this time); a 3.6-liter V6 is offered as well to provide 305 hp, 269 lb.-ft. of torque and a 6,700-lb. trailering maximum.

In terms of other premium upgrades, folks can look forward to OnStar 4G LTE service with mobile Wi-Fi, safety measures such as forward collision alert and lane-departure warning, and a new bed-based storage system called "GearOn."

Chevy will provide more information about the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado during the run-up to its official debut later this year.
