New TTS Competition Package Launched
While the all-new model debuted earlier this month at the Geneva International Motor Show in Switzerland, the 2015 Audi TT will carry one for another 12 months or so with some relatively minor upgrades for the next selling season:
The 2015 Audi TT roster will otherwise remain the same, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. For example, even the entry model is a true athlete, thanks to one of Audi's 2.0-liter, four-cylinder TSFI turbocharged engines. The base unit makes 211 hp and 258 lb.-ft. of torque, and with Audi's extensive use of aluminum helping keep down curb weight, that’s enough to propel the TT from 0-60 in just 5.3 seconds. The TT roadster runs that sprint in 5.6 seconds, while the higher-performing TTS, squeezing out 265 horses to go with its 258 lb.-ft. of torque, brings that number down below 5 seconds; the TTS convertible is just a few ticks faster at 5.1 seconds.
In all cases, performance in the 2015 Audi TT is further improved with standard quattro all-wheel drive, the Audi "magnetic ride" damping technology and a six-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Bigger changes, of course, can be expected for the brand-new third-generation TT and TTS that are scheduled to arrive in the United States as 2016 models. Wearing a further evolution of the original's iconic design, the new models will tap into Audi's latest technologies to offer:
MSRPs for the 2015 Audi TT family, as well as the next-gen 2016 lineup, will be revealed at a later time.
