2014 RAM ProMaster 2500 Cargo/Work Van Video Review

Emulating the principle employed by all modern cities, when it was deemed necessary to get more useable space out of the venerable work van, Ram went up—rather than out—to create something of a skyscraper on wheels. Taking advantage of parent company Chrysler’s new Fiat parentage, the Ram ProMaster 2500 is based on the European market Fiat Ducato. And, while some of you may well recall Ram’s Dodge predecessor had a tall van called the Sprinter, that vehicle was based on a Mercedes-Benz product. Given Chrysler is now owned by Fiat, well, that’s not a viable option anymore. The front-drive cargo hauler uses a 3.6-liter V6 capable of generating 280 horsepower. A six-speed automatic transmission handles power transfer from the engine to the road. A turbocharged diesel engine is offered as well, displacing 3.0-liters and producing 174 horsepower from four cylinders. Quite the robust machine, a properly equipped Ram ProMaster will tow as much as 5,100 pounds, or carry a payload of up to 4,417 pounds. The cargo area is a cavernous 530 cubic feet and can be configured for various professions. Additionally, the ProMaster can be ordered with either solid walls or windows. The interior walls can be paneled if desired, and the rear doors can be had either with windows or without.
