Nissan’s Sentra has been on the market since 1982, which has earned the compact car a reputation for reliability at a relatively low entry cost. For the 2014 model year, Nissan gave the Sentra an exterior refresh to modernize the car and help it compete better in the popular compact car segment. Autobytel’s T.J. Keon got access to a new Sentra SR to host this video overview of the seventh generation Sentra. The revised exterior of the 2014 Nissan Sentra SR features the brand’s signature grille treatment, much like the larger Altima. The revised Sentra is also larger than the previous model year, providing a better road presence as well as a more spacious interior. The cabin of the 2014 Sentra ST features a more upscale interior than other Sentra trim levels, finished in soft materials and bright trim, and equipped with a touch screen infotainment system and Bose audio. The 2014 Nissan Sentra SR is powered by a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 130 horsepower, and the drivetrain is completed by a CVT gearbox that yields solid fuel economy ratings, an important draw for comparison shoppers at this price point. The SR trim level of the Sentra also comes equipped with sporty styling touches such as a set of 17-inch alloy wheels, a rear sport spoiler, and a blacked-out front grille.
