The latest Maserati vehicle to come out of Italy is going to make waves. Most new cars from the super exclusive, high end manufacturers get a lot of attention. But the 2014 Maserati Ghibli was actually designed and engineered to be accessible to a much larger segment of the population, an Italian performance and luxury car that’s priced to compete with cars from Mercedes-Benz and BMW. Maserati is trying to increase its sales volume, and the new Ghibli is a key part of that strategy, with a sticker price that starts at $65,600 for the base model. This Autobytel video review, hosted by Road Test Editor Jeff Glucker, takes a look at this new Maserati. The Ghibli is based on the Maserati Quattroporte sedan, and the two vehicles share a lot of styling cues. Like the Quattroporte and other Maserati models, the new 2014 Ghibli features a very aggressive front end with a tucked reverse grille, and sharp headlights, all of which help visually tie the Ghibli into the Maserati model family. The Quattroporte’s rear end also makes an appearance on the Ghibli, which brings a little more familiarity. Multi-spoke aluminum wheels help ground the car. The new 2014 Maserati Ghibli is available with two drivetrain options, which were designed by Maserati and built by Ferrari.
