The 2014 Jaguar F-Type S is the mid-range model in the F-Type lineup. For a starting price of about $81,000, this Jag offers a lot of power. Benjamin Hunting, Autobytel’s Road Test Editor, took one of these F-Type S convertibles to the track to see how it performed. He discovered that the best way to get a sense of the F-Type S is on an open road with a lot of twisties. For the 2014 model year, the F-Type S is equipped with a V6 engine that delivers 380 horsepower, a 40-horsepower increase over the base model. The engine is paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission that provides quick and precise shifts, and features paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel. An adaptive suspension system keeps the car planted in the turns and also keeps the occupants comfortable. And, turning on Dynamic Mode allows the car to really show its stuff, especially in a competitive setting. The car can be pushed a little harder in Dynamic Mode, but the safety systems are still at the ready. The 2014 Jaguar F-Type S might not be the most focused sports car on the market, but it delivers the best attitude for its price point, compared to the other F-Type models as well as the competition.
