The model formerly known as the Infiniti G37 continues as a highly desirable sport sedan, despite its nomenclature change. Based on Nissan’s front midships platform, the Infiniti Q50 is essentially a front mid-engine model blessed with exceptional balance and delightful road manners. This is a four-door sedan you’ll enjoy driving. Along with the new nomenclature came a number of updates for the 2014 model year. The styling of the Infiniti has been updated to incorporate more gracefully flowing curves, a bolder looking front end, and subtle character lines. The interior treatment has also been revised to deliver a more luxurious driver and passenger environment. Two powertrains are offered, one of them a first for Infiniti’s mid-sized luxury sedan. The 3.7-liter V6 returns as the model’s primary powerplant. In this iteration, it produces 328-horsepower, which is fed to the rear wheels by way of a seven-speed automatic transmission. The manual transmission option from past model years has been dropped. However, a hybrid powertrain has found its way into the Infiniti four-door for the first time. The 2014 Infiniti Q50 Hybrid employs a 3.5-liter V6 and a 50-kW electric motor. Total system output is 354 horsepower.
