Hyundai debuted a limited edition Veloster called the 2014 Hyundai Veloster RE:FLEX, a name that plays off of last year's limited edition Veloster RE:MIX. It's basically a regular Veloster with some extra flair to heat up hot hatch a few degrees higher. In other words, it's a option package the brand plans to make available in only 3,000 units. Hyundai says the option RE:MIX package sold well last year, so that seems to be a good enough reason to offer this year's spiffed up Veloster.
On sale this spring with no pricing yet announced, the 2014 Hyundai Veloster RE:FLEX offers the same engine as a regular Veloster and a manual transmission is not available. That engine is a 138-horsepower, 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine paired with a six-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.
But as for what's new, there's black or red leather seating, projector headlights and tail lamps are garnished with LEDs, lots of chrome touches on the hood, handles and wheels and fog lights. On the inside, piano black accents, a 450-watt Dimension eight-speaker audio system and wheel and leather wrapped wheel and shifter are part of the package. Shown here in an exclusive Ice Pearl paint, you can also get it in Century White, Vitamin C, Ultra Black, and Boston Red.
The Hyundai Veloster is known for having a sportier look than its performance can live up to, but it is still a popular hatch on looks alone - inside and out. Frankly the Veloster Turbo would be the preferred choice by those who seek a more exciting driving experience. That being said, this version of the Veloster is a nice lift in pure aesthetics for the 2014 model year Veloster and will no doubt lure some buyers along the way.
