2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible Test Drive Video Review

Here’s one of the best-kept secrets in the American automotive hemisphere. If Chevrolet’s Corvette Stingray were built anywhere else, delivering the kind of power and agility it does, we’d be heralding it as an exotic sports car of the first order. Seriously—look at it—the car has all the hallmarks of an exotic. Swoopy styling, outstanding dynamics, an incredibly powerful engine, and… Oh wait, it doesn’t have the requisite six-figure price tag. What a pity, because the only thing separating the Corvette Stingray from the acknowledged exotics is a respiration inhibiting price tag.  Of course, this begs the question; is that really a problem? Completely redesigned for the 2014 model year, this is easily the best Corvette Chevrolet has ever built. Interior quality, always the Corvette’s Achilles Heel, has been elevated to the rarefied ranks of the world’s best cars. Mechanically, this is the most solid Corvette ever offered as well. The newly rigid body structure houses a 455 horsepower V8 delivering 460 ft-lbs of torque. The optional dual-mode exhaust system bumps those numbers to 460 horsepower and 465 ft-lbs. The rear drive sports car can be had with either a seven-speed manual transmission, or a six-speed automatic. The power-operated convertible roof stows beneath a hard tonneau, can operated at speeds of up to 30 miles per hour, and takes about 15 seconds to either retract or deploy.
