Audi’s SQ5 is the high performance variant of its lovely Q5 crossover sport utility vehicle. Handsome and luxurious, the Q5 sits in good stead within its segment. Those familiar with Audi, know adding an S to the Q5’s nomenclature means more performance and a sportier feature set. Power comes from a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 producing 354 horsepower. All-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission complete the powertrain. Standard S-line equipment includes a flat-bottomed sport steering wheel with paddle shifters for the transmission, aluminum trimmed pedals, gray instrumentation, Alcantara trim, and a shift knob trimmed in a combination of leather and aluminum. A high performance braking system, twenty-inch tires and wheels, and a lowered sport suspension system further enhance the 2014 Audi SQ5’s performance potential. Distinguishing the SQ5’s appearance from its more conservative Q5 siblings are a rear roof spoiler, brushed aluminum exterior rear-view mirror housings, and a quad-tipped exhaust system, Comfort and convenience features include keyless entry and start, heated power front sport seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a tri-zone automatic climate control system. Options include blind spot monitoring, a 14-speaker audio system by Bang and Olufsen, navigation, and the Audi Connect suite of online services. In crash testing, the 2014 Audi SQ5 earned a “good” rating from the IIHS (its highest score).
