Are you looking for a midsize sedan that provides excellent fuel economy and is somewhat fun to drive? Well, you should take a look at the 2013 Volkswagen Passat TDI as we think it's one the most fun and fuel efficient sedans on the market.

The Passat TDI comes with a 2.0L turbodiesel four-cylinder with 140 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque. On the base Passat SE TDI, you can get a six-speed manual standard or Volkswagen's optional DSG six-speed automatic. Higher trim levels get Volkswagen’s DSG six-speed automatic as standard equipment.

The EPA rates the 2013 Volkswagen Passat TDI at:

  • Six-Speed Manual: 31 City/43 Highway/35 Combined
  • Six-Speed DSG Automatic: 30 City/40 Highway/34 Combined

As for standard equipment, all Passat TDIs come with cruise control, six airbags, power seat for the driver, Bluetooth, leather-wrapped steering wheel with multifunctional controls, heated front seats, and rear air vents. High trim models come equipped with navigation, sunroof, eighteen-inch wheels, backup camera, and a Fender premium audio system.

The 2013 Volkswagen Passat TDI starts at $26,225 for the SE model with the six-speed manual and climbs up to $32,915 for the SEL. Competitors to the Passat TDI include the Ford Fusion Hybrid and Toyota Camry Hybrid.
