Mercedes-Benz offers a wide range of SUVs to meet your needs. There's the small GLK, medium size M-Class, the luxury army tank G-Class, and the focus of this video review, the GL. The GL is Mercedes-Benz’s largest SUV, capable of seating seven people. For 2013, the GL got some major tweaks to a make it a more luxurious SUV. While the exterior looks the same as the GL introduced back in 2007, Mercedes-Benz made some small changes; most notably the larger grille and new headlights. Inside is the same story; small changes here and there.
You have the choice of three different powertrains. The GL450 comes with a 4.6L turbocharged V8 producing 362 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. The GL550 uses a 4.6L turbocharged V8 producing 429 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. Finally there is the GL350 BlueTEC which is a 3.0L turbodiesel V6 engine producing 240 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque. All engines are mated to a seven-speed automatic and come with Mercedes-Benz’s 4Matic all-wheel drive system. There is also a new GL63 AMG coming later this year that brings forth 550 horsepower and 560 pound-feet of torque.
The GL lineup starts at $62,400 for the GL350 BlueTEC. Next is the GL450 which starts at $63,900. Rounding it out is the GL550 which begins at $86,900. Competitors for the GL include the Audi Q7, Cadillac Escalade, and Infiniti QX56.
