2013 Acura ILX Video Review

The new 2013 Acura ILX represents a new trend that is going on with luxury automakers; building subcompact and compact vehicles that are designed to lure younger car buyers into the brand. The ILX starts with a Honda Civic as a base and drops a unique Acura design for the body. Inside, Acura has fitted a number of luxury appointments such as leather seats, more sound deadening, dual-zone climate control, and a proximity key with push-button start.

You have the choice of three different powertrains for the Acura ILX. The base a 2.0L i-VTEC four-cylinder with 150 horsepower and 140 pound-feet of torque. That is paired to a five-speed automatic transmission. Next is the 2.4L i-VTEC four-cylinder which is the performance model of the ILX lineup. The 2.4L makes 201 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. You can only get a six-speed close-ratio manual transmission with the 2.4. Finally is the fuel efficient model, the ILX Hybrid. The hybrid uses a 1.5L i-VTEC four-cylinder paired with an electric motor. Total power output stands at 111 horsepower and 127 pound-feet of torque. A continuously-variable transmission is the only transmission choice.

Pricing for the 2013 Acura ILX starts at $25,900 for the 2.0 model, $29,200 for the 2.4, and $28,900 for the Hybrid. Competition for the ILX includes the Buick Verano and Lexus CT200h.
