The Volkswagen Passat is a full size four door five passenger sedan from the German automaker that has been completely redesigned on the inside and out. Starting at $19,999 for the base S model and climbs all the way up to the V6 SEL Premium that comes with touch screen navigation, push button start and a full assortment of power accessories for $32,950.
The base Passat is powered by a 2.5 Liter 170 HP five cylinder that is good for an estimated 22 MPG in the city and 31 MPG on the highway, the TDI has a 2.0 Liter turbocharged Clean Diesel that pumps out 140 HP and is the most efficient rated at 31 MPG around town and as much as 43 MPG on the open road, while the top of the line V6 version has a 3.6 Liter VR6 that generates 280 HP and returns 20 MPG in the city and 28 MPG at highway speeds.
The 2012 Volkswagen Passat offers best in class rear legroom and is available with creature comforts like a sunroof, one touch power windows, dual zone automatic climate control, Fender Premium audio system as well as leather wrapped seating surfaces with Dinamica inserts and heated front seats. Being a VW, the Passat is also available with the German car company’s electronically controlled dual clutch DSG automatic transmission for shorter smoother shifts and improved fuel economy. The 2012 Volkswagen Passat is also an IIHS top safety pick.
