2012 Toyota Corolla: Video Road Test and Review

The Toyota Corolla is a compact sedan that has been designed to appeal to budget-conscious buyers looking for a fuel efficient and reliable daily driver. The four-door Toyota Corolla offers five passenger seating along with 12.3 cubic feet of trunk space, and a number of safety features including side curtain airbags, side curtain airbags and forward airbags are also present and accounted for.

The Toyota Corolla L (MSRP $16,130) represents the least expensive entry in the vehicle's lineup, and it brings an impressive list of features to the table that includes air conditioning, power windows and door locks, a trip computer, a CD player and keyless entry. Moving up to the Corolla LE (MSRP $17,910) provides intermittent wipers, cruise control, two additional speakers for the stereo system and Bluetooth connectivity. The LE also upgrades the L's 15-inch steel wheels to 16-inch alloys. The top of the line Corolla S (MSRP ($17,990) is intended to project a sporty image and as such it offers a body kit, fog lights and a rear spoiler. Optional equipment for the Corolla includes a navigation system, a sunroof and satellite radio.

The Toyota Corolla's sole engine option is a 132 horsepower, 1.8-liter four-cylinder that also generates 128 lb-ft of torque. A five-speed manual is standard with the Corolla, and a four-speed automatic can be ordered as an option. Fuel economy for the sedan stands at 27-mpg city and 34-mpg highway.
